This notice explains what personal information Gardens North East collects through this website, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
This website is run by Gardens North East, Newcastle upon Tyne. For anything about your personal information, email info@gardensnortheast.co.uk.
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to send us, plus the basic technical information any website receives.
- Contact and advertising messages: your name, email address, the topic you pick and your message. For advertising enquiries, also your business name and website if you give them.
- New Build Gardens stories: your name and email, the estate or area you name, the answers you choose on the form, your story, how you want to be credited and your permission to publish.
- Photos you email us: the photos themselves and anything visible in them, plus your email address.
- Technical information: like every website, our hosting provider receives your IP address and browser details when you visit, to deliver pages and keep the site secure.
Why we use it
- To reply to your message or deal with your enquiry. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running the guide and answering the people who contact it.
- To consider your story and photos for publication, and to publish them with the credit you chose. We rely on your consent for this, and you are free to take it back whenever you wish.
- To keep the website working and secure. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe website.
Who sees it
We do not sell your information or use it for marketing. It is handled by the service providers that run the site for us: Cloudflare (hosting and the website forms) and Zoho (email and managing enquiries). The page fonts are delivered by Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads. Where any of these companies handles information outside the UK, it does so under safeguards that UK law accepts.
If we publish your story, only the name and area you chose to be credited with appear, never your email address or street.
How long we keep it
We delete messages and enquiries after two years. Stories and photos that we do not publish are deleted within six months. Published stories and photos stay up until you ask us to remove them or we take them down.
Your rights
You have the right to see what we hold on you, to have mistakes fixed, to have it erased, to object to our use of it and to change your mind about publication. Email info@gardensnortheast.co.uk. If you think we have got it wrong, the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), takes complaints.
